Welcome Parents & Students to the Home of the Lucile Erwin Middle School Orchestra Program!

Our orchestra program at Lucile Erwin Middle School serves students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, offering a comprehensive and inspiring musical experience that builds a strong foundation for success in high school and beyond. Whether students are just beginning their musical journey or advancing their skills, we are committed to helping every young musician thrive.

​

The program begins with 6th Grade Orchestra, where students are introduced to the fundamentals of their string instrument and ensemble playing. In 7th Grade, students expand their technical skills and musical understanding, performing increasingly complex repertoire and participating in school concerts and regional festivals. By 8th Grade, students are ready for more advanced ensemble experiences, including full symphony literature and chamber music.

A highlight of the 7th and 8th grade experience is participation in our Chamber Music Quintets, where students are placed into small ensembles to focus on musical independence, communication, and collaboration. These quintets meet regularly during the school day and perform at school events, community outreach concerts, and adjudicated festivals. This experience not only sharpens musicianship, but also prepares students for the chamber opportunities offered at the high school level.

Outside of regular class time, students may also participate in district-wide events such as the TSD Honor Orchestra, Mountain View Orchestra Festival, and side-by-side performances with the Loveland High School Concert and Chamber Orchestras. These events provide meaningful musical challenges and exciting opportunities for growth and community engagement.

Since 2013, the Lucile Erwin Middle School Orchestra Program has grown tremendously, becoming a cornerstone of the Loveland orchestra pathway. Our program has helped shape a new generation of confident, creative, and collaborative musicians. We are thrilled to welcome you to our orchestra family and look forward to supporting your musical journey from middle school through high school graduation!
